Flag Bag (2006)

Old American flag, tattered and weathered, was assembled and stitched into a collage piece, then to a shoulder bag in a size of 12" vinyl records.

The flag was used solely and purely as material. The artist has no intention of making a "statement", political or otherwise.

Sado Island Bag (2004)

Made from mostly "dead stock" futon fabrics as a polyptych montage.

Materials were found at a half-closed store in equally happening shopping arcade of Sado Island, Japan, the place once known as the island of exiles and for its goldmine.

Color Block Shoulder Bag (2004)

Aged fabrics found at an antique store were put together with bright colored modern materials.

The photo shows slight staining at the edge of lilac material, originally a Kimono collar, used here for an effect (after cleaning, of course).

Scale Bag (2006)

Scales and letters in an imaginary language are painted with pigment-type ink on cotton/ linen.

Material for shoulder strap is treated with charcoal.

Klee Pac (2006)

With small pieces of old, some fading fabrics, sold in bulk at an antique store, the artist attempts to challenge Paul Klee.

Shoulder straps on right hand side are originally for bamboo baskets in classic Japanese
peasant-style.
